In Spanish Graves Book Launch On Thursday 19 October
The launch of One Foot In A Spanish Grave – Eugene Downing’s Memoir of the International Brigades in Spain is taking place in the Society Premises Beggars Bush, Dublin 4 on Thursday 19 October at 7PM.
Written by International Brigade volunteer Eugene Downing, this publication was originally published as Gaeilge as La Nina Bonita agus an Róisín Dubh. This English language version has been translated by Mícheál Ó hAodha, with introduction and editing by Barry McLoughlin.
Former ILHS President Brendan Byrne, who sadly passed away earlier this year, was a nephew of Eugene Downing and was instrumental in having this book coming to print. The Society will also pay tribute to Brendan and his contribution to Irish labour and the Irish labour movement on the night of the launch also.
