Donation of Historic Trade Union Banner by the National League of the Blind

24th April 2023

At the Annual General Meeting of the Irish Labour History Society on Saturday 22nd April 2023, representatives of the National League of the Blind formally presented a historic banner from their organisation to the Irish Labour History Society.

Founded in 1898 as the first trade union in Ireland to support blind craft workers, this historic trade banner featured in many May Day and other trade union demonstrations in Dublin down the decades.

The Society is very grateful to the National League of the Blind for this very generous donation. The banner will form part of an ever expanding collection of trade union banners in the Society’s collections in Beggars Bush, Dublin.
