Saothar 52 – Call for submissions

The editors of Saothar, the journal of the Irish Labour History Society (ILHS) are currently seeking submissions for Saothar 52, which will be published in the Spring of 2027. The journal is an annual peer reviewed publication focusing on the history of the Irish labour movement, the living and working conditions of the working class in Ireland and abroad, and comparative labour history.

The primary focus of Saothar 52 will be on pre-twentieth century research although this will not preclude the submission of other material which conforms to the aims of the ILHS. Submissions will be welcomed in the form of articles and essays, document studies, oral histories and archival reports. Advice on proposals can be obtained from the editors (see contact details below).

Specific stylistic guidelines can be found on the ILHS website (https://www.irishlabourhistorysociety.com/). Articles and essays should be a maximum of 6,000 words including endnotes. Where available, photographs and other pictures are very welcome, provided permission to reproduce them can be obtained from the owners.

For advice and information on proposals, please contact Dr. John Cunningham (john.cunningham@universityofgalway.ie or Dr. Mary Muldowney {mmuldwny@gmail.com)
