‘Conflict On The Irish Railways, 1916-1923’ – Dr Peter Rigney
The Irish Labour History Society is delighted to partner with the Dublin Festival of History to present a talk by Society member and published author Dr Peter Rigney that is taking place in Richmond Barracks, Inchicore on Saturday 14th October at 2PM.
Dr Rigney will present on conflict on the Irish railway network throughout the 1916 to 1923 period, including industrial relations disputes involving railway workers, the labour movement, and the employers. Inchicore railway works played a key role throughout this revolutionary period.
Peter is editor of Saothar: Journal of the Irish Labour History and is also assistant archivist of the Railway Records Society. He has written extensively on railway transport history in Ireland, including How railwaymen and dockers defied an empire: the Irish munitions embargo of 1920.
